Celebrating our paramedics, physiotherapists and occupational therapists this Allied Health Professionals Day 2025.

AHP Day - 14 October 2025

Today we’re celebrating the incredible contribution of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) working across general practice in Dorset.

AHPs are a vital part of our primary care teams, helping people stay well, recover faster, and live independently for longer. They include physiotherapists, occupational therapists and paramedics and more, all bringing specialist skills to the GP team that complement the work of GPs, nurses, and pharmacists.

Supporting patients to stay well and independent

In general practice, AHPs play a key role in helping people manage their health and wellbeing close to home. Whether it’s improving mobility, supporting recovery, or preventing problems before they start, their work makes a huge difference to patients every day.

Our MSK specialists help people manage pain and keep active.

  • Advanced practitioner paramedics assess and treat patients in the surgery, providing same-day care and easing pressure on GPs.

  • Occupational therapists like Isobel from Mid Dorset PCN visit people at home, offering advice and equipment to help them stay safe and independent.
